DC Clothing: Photo Shoot

For one of our Fashion Photography projects at Falmouth University, we were asked to work in teams to create an editorial, fashion film, stop frame animations and cinemagraphs with clothing provided by the new collections of DC menswear and womenswear clothing, hats and shoes. We were briefed by members of the DC team on brand identity and the history of DC Shoes and how we can bring our personality to their own style and demographic. Our team were incredibly fortunate to be able to shoot our editorial in Predannack Airfield, shooting inside and around abandoned planes, Harrier jets and helicopters used by the Ministry Of Defence.
It was such a fun experience to be able to frolic around an aviation boneyard taking pictures with models and some of the UK’s leading male skateboarders. It was brilliant to be able to style and shoot our models and skaters at such an awesome location that barely anyone gets to see (let alone use)!
Once we had produced the images, we went to pitch our work to some of the top dogs at the DC headquarters and show our presentation in their in-house skate bowl.

“The Youth Of Today: Versace.” by Harry J Bartlett

I found this image from my “Urban Youth” series which was part of the “I LOVE…” project at Falmouth University.
This image was influenced by 90s Vogue campaigns with a contemporary “Trash-Youth” overtake.
I wanted this image to look like an old magazine ad with the washed out colours, styling and the Japanese text which very much focuses on how youth culture is influenced by past fashions and finding ways to interpret and reboot them to fit the current generation and fashion trends.
